Nureen is a non-profit in the making, creating free* Islamic educational apps that interact, connect and motivate. We are creating something special and needed, and we are now looking for board members that believe in this vision and bring their experience to help Nureen flourish.

NowStage 1 · Full functionality, manual controls Suitable for Muslims who read the Qur'an clearly and correctly.
The demo is a demonstration of stage 1 and runs on a single machine, so it cannot handle many people at once. It needs a microphone and works best in Chrome. We are preparing the Play Store launch.
UpcomingStage 2 · Trainer mode Nureen cheers you on through guided exercises. She gives tailored advice on pronunciation and refers you to resources to improve.
FutureStage 3 · Multiplayer world game (7+) Build a world for your lanterns and recite surahs to push back the darkness, alone, with your class or with your family.
FutureStage 4 · Early learner story games (3 to 6 years) For children who cannot read yet: each surah becomes its own story and game, with the memorisation woven in.
Nureen began spring 2025 as a gift to my sister Imene, who is memorizing the Quran. Salim, an Islamic game consultant, joined Imene and me (Bayan) from the start as gamification is central to our vision. My brother Omar joined and built our first app and redesigned the website with our testers shaping every iteration. Sarah advises on the legal framework while Naziha coaches me as we grow into an organization.

Read our manifestoNureen is preparing to register as a Dutch nonprofit, and establishing a board is an important step. We are looking for a chair, a treasurer, and a secretary who are inspired by Nureen’s mission and would like to help shape its future.
The board will provide formal governance, fulfill its legal responsibilities, and help safeguard Nureen’s long-term mission and sustainability. Board members will meet online four to six times a year, offer strategic guidance, and support the Nureen development team through thoughtful oversight and accountability. On average this takes about two to six hours a month, with possibly more during the start-up phase and around specific projects. Board members will be trained in their roles by Sarah (legal advisor) and Naziha (leadership & organisation coach).
Leads board meetings, represents Nureen externally, and ensures the board functions effectively toward our mission. The Chair actively supports fundraising efforts and helps build relationships with sponsors and partners.
Oversees finances, manages budgets, handles sponsor relationships and fundraising, and ensures financial accountability and transparency.
Manages meeting minutes, maintains records, handles official correspondence, and ensures compliance with Dutch nonprofit regulations.
