Nureen’s World Is Under Attack…
Aliens have taken over the Arabic library and are stealing letters and words to build their army. Nureen is on a mission to recover the stolen letters and books and restore peace. In this 2D platformer, Nureen jumps and explores different worlds, defeating enemies to recover stolen letters and books. The aliens grow stronger as you complete levels. To defeat them, you must read the letters and words correctly; this weakens their power and allows you to reclaim the stolen knowledge.
How Does Education Take Shape?
It starts with three easy-to-read Arabic letters (for example كتب). Through these letters, the child learns how Arabic is pronounced and practices reading. Each letter is introduced with clear pronunciation guidance. New letters and harakaat (vowel marks) are added gradually to build complexity without overwhelming the learner. The most challenging letters, such as Dhad (ض), are taught last. These are explained simply using images of mouth positioning—for instance, Dhad (ض) is compared to a soft “dal” (د), but pronounced after a yawn, creating a large, hollow mouth cavity.
In the game, the child encounters different enemies that must be defeated by reading aloud. For each enemy, the child earns points equal to the number of letters on it.
How Do We Bring This Adventure to Life?
A professional team creates the visual world, animations, and enemies. They also determine the story and the overarching vision. They create the tutorial and the audio responsiveness for pronouncing the letters and words. If possible, we want to involve the community in building the game as well. Participants would be able to design their own levels with guidance from professionals.
